While you may be able to get it to "look right" on your computer by frequent readjustment, if the document is opened on a different computer, that computer may have to substitute a different font which completely changes the spacing and your headings could wind up anywhere but where they should be.Įssentially you are trying to use AOO as a typewriter and this is not a good idea. There's another problem when you don't use manual page breaks to start a new page before a heading. Start using manual page breaks before inserting a heading and you will never again have to readjust a heading. You tell the word processor to start a new page by inserting a manual page break. Your having to readjust the location of the headings happens because word processors insert or delete pages automatically when content is added or deleted and you haven't told the word processor manually that it should start a new page before a heading. Your goal should be to eliminate the frequent readjustment of the headings, not to just make it easier by showing the cursor position in the Status Bar. There's a big problem with the way you're trying to control the position of the headings. doc, then see if I can open it in Open Office with no problems. I suspect I'll use Wine to run Atlantis and write the novel, save it as. But none of the workarounds are as handy as the displaying of line and column.
